Week 11

Wait a minute... Week 11 ? What is he talking about it is week 49 and maybe it is for most people, but if you are a Berkeley Student this is week 11 (Week 11 = Week before finals). The holidays are not far away and it always seems harder to find motivation at the end of the quarter.

Some tips to get more motivation and make sure you will not have anxiety on your finals:

  • Start to prepare yourself for your final at least 7 days before your final ( I know it might seem like a long time before your final, but if you just read your notes ones a week before you will feel more prepared when you start to "cram")
  • Study at the Library and try to study at different places (It is always good to be in an environment  where you can focus)
  • Go to the Academic Support Center (13th Floor 41 Street Building). They can help you to study and to prepare you for your finals.
  • Do not give up and try to decide for how many hours that you are going to spend studying for each exam
  • Have fun - try to make it as fun as possible
  • Rewards - Give yourself rewards for each task you complete or if you study on an exam for a couple of ours.
  • Take study brakes!! Cramming for a couple of hours without brakes will not do you any good. Take a walk, buy a soda and to not skip any meals.

'
Good Luck with your exams and I hope that you will be a part of the A-team.
 (A-team =Presidents list)

My Team

Giants, Red Bulls, Yankees,  Jets and Mets are some sport teams from New York. Some are good, great, not so good and then we have the Mets level, but lets not go into details on that level. Baseball and "Football" (NFL) is two of the biggest sports in America, but NASCAR is the most popular sport in America (Who imagine that it would be that fun to see cars turn to the left)

Actually I am on of those people who prefer NASCAR over NFL and Baseball (Only time I prefer Football is if it is the Super Bowl game). My favorite team plays the national sport of Canada also known as Ice Hockey and the team are the New York Rangers.  This is some pics from when Martin and I went to a game at the Madison Square Garden.

Rangers Goal Celebration. Martin and I got lucky and got to see Rangers score 5 times against Carolina Hurricanes.
That's what I call a Hot Dog!

I am going to end this post with a quote from Wayne Gretsky: You miss 100% of the shots you don't take.

Sopranos

Gossip Girl, How I Met Your Mother, Friends, How To Make It In America and Friends are all shows about New York, but there are one show that is considered to be one of the best shows in television that takes place in New Jersey.  Costa nostra, family, violence, Italians is something that makes the show Sopranos to one of the best shows in television history.

For fans of the show there is tour that you can take to get the Sopranos experience.

With the Joseph R Gannascoli who Plays Vito in Sopranos

The tour-guide had a lot of passion and had been in the show in 13 Episodes.

The dinner where Chris Montesanti got shot in the first season of Sopranos

Here the tour stops at Satriale's Pork Store

Outside the famous Bada Bing

The tour is my best New Jersey experince since I moved to New York and to everybody who have seen the show this is something that you must do.  The tour also visits the Diner from the last episode of Sopranos.

New in New York

You have booked your flight and your application to Berkeley College has been accepted.
What happens next and what shall you expect?
For me when I came to New York for 14 months ago I did not know anybody and I traveled alone. The last weeks before leaving  is a struggle between feeling wow this is going to be so amazing and it is going to be scary because I am traveling all alone and I DO NOT KNOW ANYBODY in NEW YORK……..
Even do you travel alone and it might be scary you will meet a lot of new people and I have friends that I know I am going to keep being friends with for the rest of my life.

Some tips to during the first weeks:

  •     Be open to do new things and participate in everything where you can meet new people.
  •        Arrange events and invite people to join you in doing things that you like.  (Arrange a pub crawl, Brooklyn Bridge trip, see the US.Open, go to see a movie)
  •        Remember that you are not alone and there are a lot of people that are in the same situation that just are waiting on to do something fun
  •   Walk a lot and explore the city.  Take a walk from Central park down to Bryant Park. You will see a lot of people and there are a lot stores on the way.
  •    If you have any questions about the school or need help with something visit the International Office at campus (13 floor, 41 street).
  •   Take a lot of pics and enjoy your start on new big adventure
